When God began to create heaven and earth, the earth being unformed and void, with darkness over the surface of the deep and a wind from God sweeping over the water. God said. "Let there be light"; and there was light.

So God cast a deep sleep upon the Human; and, while he slept, God took one of his sides and closed up the flesh at that site. And God fashioned the side that had been taken from the Human into a woman, bringing her to the Human.

So God banished humankind from the garden of Eden, to fill the humus from which it was taken: It was driven out; and east of the garden of Eden were stationed the cherubim and the fiery ever-turning sword, to guard the way to the tree of life.

Abel, for his part, brought the choicest of the firstlings of his flock. Paid heed to Abel and his offering, but to Cain and his offering [God] paid no heed. Cain was much distressed and his face fell.

Cain said to his brother Abel…and when they were in the field, Cain set upon his brother and killed him. God said to Cain, "Where is your brother Abel?" and he said, "I do not know. Am I my brother's keeper?".

And the waters then receded steadily from the earth. At the end of one hundred and fifty days the waters diminished, so that in the seventh month, on the seventeenth day of the month, the ark came to rest on the mountains of Ararat.

The dove came back to him toward evening, and there in its bill was a plucked-off olive leaf! Then Noah knew that the waters had decreased on the earth.

When Noah woke up from his wine and learned what his youngest son had done to him, he said. " Cursed be Canaan; The lowest of slaves shall he be to his brothers.

That is why it was called Babel, because there God confounded the speech of the whole earth; and from there God scattered them over the face of the whole earth.

As soon as Moses came near the camp and saw the calf and the dancing, he became enraged; and he hurled the tables from his hands and shattered them at the foot of the mountain.
